Amy Schadt Tutoring
Hello, I am Amy! I graduated from St. Mary’s College of California with a BA in Performing Arts in 2015, and during my studies, I fell in love with mathematics and moved into private tutoring, online and in person, and substitute teaching in pre algebra, algebra 1 & 2, pre – calculus, geometry, chemistry and essay writing. I have over 20 years experience as a dance educator and am very good at breaking down systems to make complex problems user-friendly. I am also a Certified Life Coach accredited by the International Coaching Federation.
During the session we review concepts to improve each student’s logical thinking, course understanding, and test performance. I customize my tutoring sessions to each student’s personality, homework, and textbook, offering examples of correct and incorrect solutions to help them approach problems. A recurring theme I see in students is a lack of understanding of the fundamentals. We clarify and strengthen those fundamentals so they can build their skill and confidence.
I have a unique perspective having struggled with school myself as a young student and then many years later excelling in it as an adult. Having this experience allows me to find ways to help a student bridge the gap from confusion and frustration to certainty and confidence.
I look forward to meeting you and your child and building their math confidence so they can excel now and in the future.

Life Coaching and Academics
As an academic life coach for high school students, my role is to provide personalized guidance and support to help students excel academically and develop crucial life skills. I serve as a trusted advisor, accompanying students on their high school journey, both academically and personally.
My primary focus is on helping students set and achieve their academic goals. Through regular one-on-one sessions, I assess their current academic performance, review their study habits, and collaboratively develop strategies to enhance their learning experience. Together, we identify their strengths, weaknesses, and areas of improvement, tailoring our approach to meet their unique needs.
But it’s not just about academics. I am passionate about fostering personal growth and development. I encourage students to explore their interests, passions, and talents outside of the classroom. By helping them discover their strengths, we work together to identify potential career paths or areas of further study. I believe in the importance of developing essential life skills such as time management, organization, problem-solving, and effective communication, which are invaluable beyond the confines of the classroom.
As an academic life coach, I take on the role of a motivator and cheerleader. I provide continuous encouragement and reinforcement to boost students’ confidence and self-belief. I instill in them the value of resilience, perseverance, and a growth mindset, teaching them to view challenges as opportunities for growth and learning. I am there to celebrate their successes and provide support during times of struggle.
Moreover, I act as a liaison between students, parents, and teachers, fostering effective communication and collaboration. I ensure that everyone is aligned and working together to support the student’s academic success.
Overall, my role as an academic life coach is to empower high school students to become self-directed learners, capable of managing their academic pursuits while also preparing them for future success in higher education and beyond. By offering personalized guidance, unwavering support, and mentorship, I help students unlock their full potential and pave the way for a bright and fulfilling future.

“Amy has been tutoring my 10th grade son in Geometry for a year. Amy is not only a lovely person, but is a fantastic teacher and tutor. She goes above and beyond in her commitment to her students, putting so much time and care into her weekly lessons. Her talent for teaching was apparent from the first session and her ease with teenagers is absolutely amazing. She is a no-nonsense tutor and can get my distracted son straight to work, but she also has a great sense of humor which makes the time more relaxed and enjoyable for him. When I hear them laughing during the sessions, it warms my heart. My son told me that Amy explains the problems better than his teacher and he actually understands the material when she goes over it with him. He is enrolled in Algebra 2 in the Fall and I am definitely hiring Amy for the summer to get a head-start on the school year!!”

”Amy is exactly what my son needed. Kind, patient, and most of all knowledgeable. She comes prepared with his exact lessons, and gives him all the time he needs. Most importantly, she has a sense of humor and joyful attitude which really connects with my son, makes him more eager to learn, and spend the time on his studies.
Amy has been a gift for a boy who came kicking and screaming to the whole idea of needing help, and watching her pull a joy for math out of him has been a real pleasure for me, as well.
If all you’re looking for is a bottom line: His grades have improved, his test and quiz scores have risen consistently, and his pride is evident. It’s made Amy one of the best decisions I ever could have made for my son.”

”Having been out of school and needing to pass the CBEST, I needed to go back and relearn the math concepts in the test so I called Amy Schadt to tutor me through the Math section, something I was totally terrified to do. I’m so pleased, Amy helped me so much. She was conscientious, patient, knowledgeable…and helped me find the simplest way to understand the basics and how to think in “math”. My discovery while working with her was that even though I was in school for so many years, I never really learned many of the basics. She helped me through the confusion and terror. Thanks so much Amy for a job well done.
